Mr. Curtis Jones passed away on February 17, 2026, following a short but courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Curtis was the son of Patricia and Randy Jones. He graduated from Richland Northeast High School and went on to build a lifelong career constructing homes throughout the Columbia area. Through his hard work and craftsmanship, he helped shape not only neighborhoods, but the lives of the families who called those houses home.
Curtis felt most at peace on the water. Whether in a small fishing boat or a larger vessel, he simply loved being on a boat. The water was his happy place.
He met his soulmate, Maggie, in middle school. Though life led them down different paths for a time, fate brought them back together, and they were married in 2017. Their love story was one of enduring connection and second chances.
The greatest joy of Curtis's life was his daughter, Nadine. She could often be found by his side on job sites, proudly "helping" her dad drive equipment and knock down trees. She held a special piece of his heart, and their bond was undeniable.
Curtis was preceded in death by his father, Randy Jones. He is survived by his loving mother, Patricia Jones; his brother, Jerry Jones (Cindy Evans); his devoted wife, Maggie Jones; his beloved daughter, Nadine (Brent); his stepdaughter, Melissa (TJ) Nabors; and his stepson, Jesse Wessinger. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Saphira, Sarah, Eiden, Mason, and Dawson, as well as numerous other family members, including his special nephew, Cody (Yesenia).
Curtis will be remembered for his strength, his dedication to his work and family, and the love he gave so freely. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched and the homes—and family—he built with his hands and heart.
The funeral service will be held at 4 o'clock on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Spears Creek Baptist Church, 116 Spears Creek Church Lane Elgin, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church, beginning at 3 o'clock until 4 o'clock.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to honor Curtis' life be made to Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation, P.O. Box 1912 East Greenwich, RI 02818.
Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel is assisting the family.
