Cynthia Mangum Monenschein, 58, of Newberry, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Born in Charlotte, NC, she was a daughter of Charles Edgar Mangum and the late Dorothy Jane Strawn Mangum. Cynthia was an assistant director with the SC Dept of Mental Health and a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Post 6740.

Survivors include her husband, George "Ed" Monenschein; son, Austin Huckabee and wife, Erica, of Killeen, TX; step-daughter, Cynthia Williams of LaCrosse, VA; grandson, Christian Huckabee; brothers, Charles E. and Robert B. Mangum; sister, Melinda Scarborough; sister-in-law, Linda Applegate and husband, Riley, of Ocean Gate, NJ; brother-in-law, William Monenschein of Grants Pass, OR; and niece, Tracy Scarborough. In addition to her mother, Cynthia was preceded in death by a step-son, Eric Monenschein; and brother-in-law, Joe Monenschein.

The funeral service for Mrs. Monenschein will be held Noon, Monday, February 4th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 11 o'clock.
