Mr. Stevens was retired from Colonial Stores and was a lifelong member of Sandy Level Baptist Church; where he was a Sunday school teacher, a deacon, trustee and member of the Men's NO. 2 Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Prime Timers, where he drove the church bus for the seniors to go on many wonderful trips. He was known by his faith in the Lord and found great strength in reading daily from his favorite Bible. Friends referred to him as the man who walked the talk.
Mr. Stevens is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Bobbie Raines Stevens; daughter, Marianne Sharpe (Heyward); son, Dan Hoffman Stevens, Jr. (Cindy); five grandchildren, Suzie Sharpe (Joey), Boone Stevens (Dee Dee), Joni Baker (Bubba), Betsy Johnson (Tim), Buckner Hagood (Lindsay); nine great-grandchildren; sister, Sarah Lois Riley of Florence, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Thigpen; two brothers-in-law, Albert Thigpen and Cecil Riley.
