Dana Marie Atkinson of West Columbia, SC, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center, surrounded by her devoted friends and family.
Born on January 21, 1966, Dana brought light and joy to all who knew her. She leaves behind her devoted wife, Dana King, siblings Chuck and Renee, as well as cherished nieces, nephews, and her treasured grand-niece and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Atkinson and Elizabeth Holder, as well as her beloved sister, Debbie Atkinson Synan.

Dana was a USC graduate and took pride in her career with Nationwide as an insurance adjuster, working in both material damage and liability. Her conscientiousness and determination made her a valuable team member, and she is remembered fondly for her contributions. She was both a brilliant thinker and a very talented creative, pursuing massage therapy, painting, and theatre.

Dana will be remembered for her quick wit, deep empathy, spunky personality, and impeccable sense of style. Her nieces and nephews have fond memories of her distinctive voice and bearing. She had a gift for making those around her feel seen, loved, and valued.

A celebration of Dana's life will be held at a later date where friends and family will gather to honor her legacy and the impact she made on so many lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charitable organization of your choice.

Dana's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
