Danelle Bruorton Duncan was born Danelle Neely Bruorton to Edna Neely Bruorton and Daniel O. Bruorton in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She grew up in Rock Hill and graduated in 1974 from Rock Hill High School, then attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, graduating in 1978 with a degree in education. Danelle married David Robert Duncan on June 13th, 1986, in Rock Hill.

Danelle is survived by her husband, David; and her children, Samantha Donovan and Daniel Duncan; her granddaughters, Selah and Eliza Donovan; and her grandson, Henry Duncan; as well as her son-in-law, Austin Donovan; and daughter-in-law, Katherine Duncan. She also had four sisters-in-law (one predeceased) who treated her as a sister and ten nieces and nephews (one predeceased), whom she loved as if they were her own. Danelle loved and cared for her family deeply.

Danelle was an avid reader, with multiple Kindle devices so she could always be reading. Danelle was active in her Christian faith as a member of Shandon Baptist Church for the last 28 years and an integral member of Community Bible Study for the last 12 years. She fought valiantly through a diagnosis of transverse myelitis from 27 years ago but despite many hardships and so many years in a wheelchair never met a stranger or left someone without saying something kind. She shared her faith and testimony always with hope in Christ Jesus the Lord and Savior.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC 29206. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Garners Ferry Road Columbia, SC 29209. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Danelle's honor can be made to Shandon Baptist Church's Building Fund (5250 Forest Drive Columbia, South Carolina 29206) or to a charity of one's own choosing.
