Mark Daniel "Danny" Phillips, 37, of Columbia, died Friday, April 21, 2017. Born December 18, 1979, in Columbia, he was the son of Theron Mark and Janice Joy Tuggy Phillips.
Since childhood Danny said, "I always wanted to put my hands on wild animals." He started his business, "All Things Wild," in 2008 with two rat traps and $300. He also loved fishing, hunting, and golf. He was a member of Shandon Baptist Church. A member of Phi Delta Theta, Danny graduated as a wildlife biologist from Clemson University in 2002 among the top of his class. He was a passionate Clemson Tiger fan. His sponsorships included DNR, Ducks Unlimited and the NRA, as well as support for the Oliver Gospel Mission.
In addition to his parents, Danny is survived by his wife, Savannah Marie Cudd Phillips; sisters, Robin Michelle Richardson (Sean) of Conway, and their children, Banks and Flynn, and April Phillips Zamor (Frantz) of Easley and their children, Drew and Kara Beck; maternal grandmother, Alegría "Joy" Tuggy; paternal grandmother, Etta "Jean" Phillips; mother and father-in-law, Susan and Steve Cudd; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Alfred Tuggy; and paternal grandfather, Gene Phillips.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Wednesday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. A memorial service will be held 6:30 o'clock, Thursday, April 27, at Sandy Level Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Tuggy officiating.
