Mrs. Daphne Sturgeon DeHart, 86, of Blythewood, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 25, 2015. Born September 8, 1929 in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Rudolph "Rube" Sturgeon and Louise Hoover Sturgeon. Daphne served as a dietician with Richland School District One for 27 years, and Baptist Medical Center for 19 years. She was a longtime member of Sandy Level Baptist Church, where she especially enjoyed serving in the childcare ministry. Daphne was a true caregiver, and was never happier than when she was cooking and caring for those whom she loved.
Daphne is survived by her sons, Danny DeHart and Greg DeHart (Paulette); daughters, Lois McCord and Donna Humphries (Herb); seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine Browder; and brother, Larry Sturgeon, Jr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rollin M. DeHart.
The funeral service for Mrs. DeHart will be held at 2 o'clock, Monday, November 30th, at Sandy Level Baptist Church, 408 Blythewood Rd., Blythewood. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, is assisting the family.
