David Avery Graddick, 83, of West Columbia, died Friday, August 9, 2013. Born July 12, 1930 in Blythewood, SC, he was a son of the late David Wesley and Jewel Robinson Graddick. David graduated from the old Columbia High School and went on to join the US Air Force. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant and Air Examiner from McEntire Air Force Base after 41 years of service. He was a member of the Blythewood Masonic Lodge #395, where he had served as one of the youngest Grand Master Masons in South Carolina history. A life-long member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Blythewood, David was a very giving person. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Elsie Pace Graddick; daughters, Margaret (Joe Boulware) Graddick, Marie Carolyn Wilson and Mary-Anne (John) Webster; grandchildren, Stephanie (Brian) Langston and JoAnne Boulware; and Munch, his well-loved cat. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Pullen.

The funeral service for Mr. Graddick will be held 11 o'clock, Monday, August 12th at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1801 Cedar Creek Rd., Blythewood, with The Rev. Charles Wilbanks officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. David's fellow Masons are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 o'clock, Sunday evening at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
