David Eugene Gray, 81, of Columbia, died on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Born in Alexandria, Virginia, on July 13, 1940, he was a son of the late Robert Wilson and Hazel Lee Perkins Gray.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Zammarrelli Thompson-Gray; step-children, Rose Lacote, Anthony Thompson (Kelly), Christine Thompson (Dave), Thomas Thompson (Kara); seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren all of New Jersey; siblings, Danny Gray (Sally) of North Myrtle Beach, SC, John Gray (Joyce) of Shenandoah, VA, Mary Walkup (Doug Janezeck) of Virginia Beach,VA, Cathy Steffey of Fredricksburg, VA, Tim Gray (Darlene) of Spotsylvania County, VA, and Tom Gray of Rutherglen, VA; aunt, Katherine Perkins McDaniel; as well as a host of other extended family members. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Sachiko Gray; siblings, Robert M. Gray, Delores Gray Wright, and Michael Gray.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 o'clock, Thursday, October 14th, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 100 Polo Road, Columbia, with The Rev. Fr. C. Alexander McDonald officiating. Burial will be held in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
