Mr. David Etheridge, Jr., 88, of Columbia, died Saturday, November 1, 2014. Born October 15, 1926, in Cordova, SC, he was a son of the late David Etheridge, Sr. and Annie Lee Dukes Etheridge.

A WWII US Navy veteran, Mr. Etheridge was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon. An electrical contractor until his retirement, he enjoyed playing the organ.

Survivors include his sons, David Dukes Etheridge (Suzanne), Caldwell Wesley Etheridge (Sharon); six grandchildren, Brian Etheridge, Kevin Etheridge (Katherine), Jessica Backus (Robin), Dusty Etheridge, Dillon Etheridge, Dalton Etheridge; four great grandchildren, Samantha Backus, Wyatt Backus, Jacob Etheridge, and Elizabeth Etheridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Anne Tidwell Etheridge; one brother; and five sisters.

A funeral service for Mr. Etheridge will be held 2 o'clock, Wednesday, November 5th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel with The Rev. Eric Dye officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends prior to the service, beginning at 1 o'clock.
