Services for David "PaPaw" Phillips, 53, of Gaston, will be held 3 o'clock, Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with The Rev. Rudy N. Jeffcoat, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

David was born July 9, 1965 in Columbia to the late Norman and Ila Mae Hagins Phillips, Sr. He died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 16th, surrounded by his family after a short but courageous battle with Small Cell Lung Cancer.

David worked at RNDC for the last eight years. He worked in the liquor distributing business for more than 30 years. David was a loving and devoted husband, daddy and PaPaw. He loved everything Gamecocks, Dale Earnhardt Sr. and golfing with his sons.

David is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Lisa Pichey Phillips; his daughter, Courtney Jones (Bubba); three sons, Chris Phillips (Kayla), Andrew Phillips (Kym), and Harley Phillips (Kayla); seven grandchildren, Blayton, Lonnie, Abigail, Karissa, Sara, Casey and Cadence; his two dogs, Dixie B and Dani Girl. He is also survived by a sister, Tammy Millmine (Steve); and brother, Glen Phillips. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother, Pete Phillips.
