David Glen Starr, 83, of Columbia, died Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Born in Greensboro, NC, he was the son of the late Leslie T. and Margaret Forsythe Starr. David was an organic chemist, who attended Brevard College, Elon University and graduate school at the University of South Carolina. He retired from USC. David enjoyed USC athletics and raising orchids and hybrid lilies. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marion Greeson Starr; daughters, Glenn Ellen Starr Stilling of Boone, NC and The Reverend Karen Starr of Sumter, SC.

The graveside service for Mr. Starr will be held at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, Thursday, August 6th, at 2 o'clock, with The Rev. James R. Davis officiating. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
