On March 12, 2017, Debbie Neuberg, 64, went home to the arms of her heavenly Father. Snow fell peacefully outdoors while the warmth of her family's love surrounded her. This was a tranquil culmination of a sometimes stormy but courageous nine-year battle with breast cancer. Debbie was born to Ralph and Norma Anderson in Columbia, South Carolina on December 10, 1952.
Debbie's life was centered around family and the children and grandchildren she loved dearly. She was one of those moms who loved having the neighborhood children over for fun or advice, which she freely and lovingly gave. She had a fun-loving spirit and an infectious smile that drew young people close to her heart.
Love of the Lord and service to Him were an integral part of who Debbie was. Her faith was childlike enabling her to teach Sunday school and Bible study, sharing the knowledge and love of Christ with children and teenagers alike. Debbie's mission field extended from South Carolina to Honduras where she led a "backyard Bible club" in remote villages annually for nearly twenty years. Though she never learned to speak Spanish, she was fluent in the language of love through which many children learned about Jesus.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Ron; her daughters, Allyson (Tobias), Courtney (Billy), Julie (Paul), and Brittany (Andrew); her son, Brent (Stacia); her grandchildren, Ella, Leia, Noelle, Holly, Sophie, Audrey, Graycen, and Grant; her father, Ralph; her brother, Clif (Sherry) and her dogs, Mellie and Derbe. She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma and numerous pets whom she loved dearly and were her companions through good times and bad.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14th, immediately followed by a celebration of Debbie's life at New Heights Church, 5501 Broad River Rd, 29212. Pastor Mike Townsend will officiate the service.
