Deborah Carol Lacey passed away on September 21, 2017 following a hard fought extended illness. Debbie was born March 4, 1952 in Portland, Maine to Clifford Dean and Sally Miller West. She retired from the Department of Defense where she worked in various roles supporting the military activities at Fort Jackson. Debbie continued her engagement with Fort Jackson by working as a vendor representative at the commissary where she was widely known.

She is survived by her daughter, Carole Ficheria of Columbia and son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Sandy Lacey of Newnan, Georgia. Debbie also leaves behind four grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Katie Deininger of San Antonio, Texas, Anthony Ficheria, Connor Lacey and Anya Lacey of Newnan, Georgia. She is also survived by her mother, Sally West of Columbia and her sisters and brother-in-law, Susan Ponichtera of Tampa, Florida and Becky and Bob Conley of Douglasville, Georgia. Debbie was also blessed to have several close friends who provided much support and love during her illness.

Visitation will be from 2 until 4 o'clock on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. Her desire was to be cremated and interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 190 Knox Abbott Dr., Suite 301, Cayce, SC 29033.
