Deborah "Debbie" Daniels Winter, 63, of Columbia, died Monday, May 31, 2021 after a vigilant and courageous 42 year battle with cancer. Born on Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC, on November 8, 1957, she was a daughter of Joseph Edward and Ada Lewellen Daniels. Debbie was a graduate of Lower Richland High School. She was a longtime member of Shandon Baptist Church where she enjoyed being active in the youth groups, handbell choir as well as the cancer support ministry. Debbie also enjoyed working at First Baptist Church of Orlando's preschool department during their time in Florida. Over many years, Debbie provided a cross stitch Christmas stocking to each family member totaling 27.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her husband, Stephen "Steve" Keith Winter; son, Stephen "Keith" Winter, Jr. (Lauren); daughter, Katherine Coleman (Trey); grandchildren, Henri and Emma Coleman; sister, Barbara Eisenhower (George); brother, Mark Daniels (Lisa); stepmother-in-law, Gladys Winter and brothers-in-law, Robert Winter (Ann), and Paul Howard; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Debbie was preceded in death by her in-laws, Louie and Johnnie Winter and sister-in-law, Melanie Howard.
The service for Mrs. Winter will be held at 1 o'clock, Friday, June 4th, at Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Dr, Columbia, with Rev. Barry Gray and Dr. Steve Williams officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
