Denise June Hartzell, 75, of Elgin, South Carolina, died on July 31, 2025. Born on June 5, 1950, in Youngstown, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Hunter and the late Mildred Kisel Hunter.
Denise was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She worked as a Pharmacy Technician at Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital for 12 years, where her caring nature made her a cherished member of the healthcare team. Denise had a vibrant personality and a zest for life that radiated through all her passions.
An avid traveler, she enjoyed RV camping and riding motorcycles with her husband, Charles. She also enjoyed crafting and would often create beautiful pieces to share with those she loved. But nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Denise was known for her kind heart and ability to turn any stranger into a lifelong friend.
A faithful member of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Blythewood, Denise was deeply involved in parish life and community activities. Her warm spirit and generosity were felt by all who knew her.
Denise is survived by her devoted husband, Charles Edward Hartzell of Elgin, SC; her children, Lisa McCauley of McDonald, Ohio; Chris Hartzell of Struthers, Ohio; and Chad Hartzell (Pam) of Marion, Ohio. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Denise was preceded in death by her cousin, Jim Fuese.
The funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Denise Hartzell's life will be held at 2 o'clock, Wednesday, August 6,2025 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 9720 Wilson Blvd, Blythewood, SC 29016.
