Mrs. Denise Sandt's Obituary

Denise F. Sandt, 77, of Columbia, died on Sunday, March 27, 2022. Born October 1, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Dennis Bonham and Frances Stern Bonham.

As a child, Denise attended Our Lady of Angels Church in Brooklyn. During a church dance one particular Friday night, she met a boy, who turned out to be the love of her life and later on became her husband for 54 years. Denise was a proud military wife, having supported David during his 27-year long career. After his retirement, Denise enrolled in college and became a registered nurse; a career that she loved and cherished for 15 years.

Denise was strong in her faith and loved attending church and participating in various programs. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, neighbors. A favorite pastime for her was gardening.

Survivors include her loving husband, David G. Sandt; daughter, Michele McCall; grandson, Henry McCall; granddaughter, Abigail McCall; along with numerous close friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 4 sisters and a brother.

A Vigil Prayer Service will be held 6 o'clock, Tuesday, March 29, 2022, followed by a visitation, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:30 o'clock, Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 100 Polo Rd., Columbia, SC, 29223.
