Dennis Willard Lamar, 89, of Columbia, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Born June 22, 1924, in Dearing, GA, he was a son of the late George Mack Lamar and Ruby Gay Lamar. Dennis was an over the road trucker, working with Huckabee Transport, Cotton State Trucking, R.C. Motor Lines, and retiring from Roadway Express. He was a member of Teamsters Local Union 509, the Broad River Masonic Lodge #377, the Jamil Temple, and the Scottish Rite.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Geraldine Flanders Lamar; sons, Dennis Michael Lamar (Patricia Wand), Ronnie Ray Lamar (Debbie), and Randall Gene Lamar (Lisa); grandchildren, Kelly Marie Holmes, Dennis David Lamar, Charles Dennis, Lamar, and Gary Allan Lamar; great grandchildren, Campbell Jane Lamar and Tinsley Layne Lamar; and brother, Raymond Lamar. In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his siblings, George, Saggus "Jody", Charles "Red" Lamar, and Lucy Lamar Smith.

A graveside service for Mr. Lamar will be held 3 o'clock, Friday, May 9th, at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, 2603 Two Notch Rd, Columbia, with The Rev. Bobby Coleman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Thursday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia.
