Devon White Turner, 95, of Lexington, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021. Born on July 8, 1926, in Hannah, SC, to the late Claude Richardson and Sudie Gertrude Collins White.

Devon was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Columbia for over 70 years, where she served in numerous capacities over the years, including president of her Sunday School class. She attended Columbia College and graduated with her Bachelor of Education. Throughout the years, she remained an active part of their alumni association. Devon had a love for crocheting, knitting, and sewing for her church and the homeless. She was a skilled cook, known for her famous caramel pound cake, and in her free time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her loved ones.

Ms. Turner was the loving wife of 65 years to Walter Eugene Turner. The two shared a passion for cheering on the Carolina Gamecocks. Even in her late years, she was determined to attend every ball games. When she got to the point of being unable to drive, she would call up a younger girlfriend and convince her on chauffeuring. Devon is remembered for her outgoing, independent personality. Her family will always remember her as the energized bunny.

Survivors include daughter, Terry Adams (Steve); sons, Larry Turner (Nancy) and Kevin Turner (Ellen), granddaughter; Jaime Adams (Brian); grandsons; Brandon and Jacob Turner; great-grandsons, Joshua and Samuel Adams; baby sister, Betty Altman; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by seven siblings.

The funeral service for Ms. Turner will be held at 2 o'clock on Tuesday, November 16th, at First Baptist Church, Boyce Chapel, 1306 Hampton St, Columbia, SC 29201. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel is assisting the family.
