Dianne Elisabeth Woodburn, 71, of West Columbia, SC, passed on away Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the home she loved. Born October 18, 1952, in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph Whealen and Elizabeth Forde Whealen.
Mrs. Woodburn enjoyed a wonderful childhood in Massachusetts surrounded by family and spending summers at Cape Cod. As an adult, she lived in South Florida, where she raised her family and had a fulfilling career managing several daycare facilities. About ten years ago, Mrs. Woodburn relocated to South Carolina to be closer to her daughter. She was a unique, old soul who never met a stranger. She had a deep affection for children and teaching. But she especially loved to spoil her own granddaughter. Mrs. Woodburn's hobbies included gardening, reading, and cooking.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Macy Elizabeth Porter (Mark) of West Columbia; son, Steven Plotkin of Newtonville, MA; granddaughter, Evelyn Grace Porter; and her sisters, Dawn Mullarkey (Mike), Dorey Whealen and her sister in laws Elizabeth Hurst (Joe), Audrey King, Denise Mazzone and Tracie Woodburn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Davide "Dusty" Woodburn.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, February 24th at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 736 Campground Road, Columbia, with Pastor Ralph Young officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
