Donnie Hardin, 62, of Columbia, died Sunday, August 1, 2021. Born November 17, 1958, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Francis E. Hardin and Alva Jean Johnson Hardin.
Donnie was often referred to as a jack of all trades, doing things the conventional way, or the Donnie way that surprisingly, always seemed to work. He was a carpenter by trade and in his spare time, worked on cars. He was hardworking, loving, and a people person; always willing to help anyone and everyone. Donnie loved and cherished his family and friends, often putting them before himself by dropping whatever he was doing to help, regardless of time of day, or distance. He might have been late, but he was there. He had a gift for making people laugh and making everyone feel special. Donnie also loved animals; from the smallest dog to big cows.
Survivors include his children, Rachel James (Chris), Samantha Hardin (Jeffrey), DJ Hardin, Amanda Frye (Phillip), Johnny Hardin; grandchildren, Katie Huffstetler, Nick Huffstetler, Hailey James, Riley Sharpe, Lily Frye, Connor Frye; sister, Marilyn Kruk; nieces, Rhiannon Kruk, Pam Kruk, Ann Marie Weatherford (Paul); nephew, JR Kruk; great nieces, Kenzie Holland, Avrianna Kruk, Everly Kruk; great nephews, Cody Kruk, Tyler Holland, Bryson Weatherford; and long time partner, Nancy Dutille. In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his brother, Francis E. Hardin, Jr., infant sister, Betty Jo Hardin, and great niece, Emily Holland.
A funeral service will be held 3 o'clock, Friday, August 6, 2021, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel with The Rev. Mark Bredholt officiating. The family will greet friends, prior to the service, beginning at 2 o'clock. A livestream may be viewed by visiting his tribute page at ShivesFuneralHome.com.
