Donna Maria Benson, 77, of Elgin, died on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025. Born October 28, 1949, in Cambridge, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Oscar Benson and Mary Louise Glennon Benson.

Donna dutifully served for 3 years in the United States Army. Following her service, she diligently worked for 20 years as a Civil Service Employee at Fort Jackson. Donna had a charitable spirit and volunteered with the VA, VFW, and American Legion, always giving back to the community around her. She enjoyed preparing Thanksgiving meal boxes, Christmas gifts, and even Valentine's cards for veterans. Donna was a dear friend to many, always lending a listening ear and sharing kind words.

Survivors include her brother, Joseph Benson (Debbie) of Massachusetts; nephew and niece, Matthew Benson and Jill Benson; and numerous other relatives. She is also survived by her dear friend, Janice Negus. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Benson and Mary Louise Benson.

A service of committal with military honors rendered will be held at 9 o'clock on Wednesday, November 12th, 2025, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road Columbia, SC.

A memorial service to honor Donna's life will be held at 2:30 o'clock, Sunday, November 16th, 2025, at Windsor United Methodist Church, 9500 Windsor Lake Blvd, Columbia, SC. A reception will follow the service at the church.
