Donna Lasch Bocchine, 66, of Blythewood, died Saturday, August 4, 2018. Born on April 10, 1952, in Conneaut Lake, PA, she was the granddaughter of the late Walter Lasch, Sr. and the daughter of the late Virginia Lasch. Mrs. Bocchine attended Edinboro University where she majored in Education and received a M.Ed. from the University of South Carolina. While in Conneaut Lake, she met and married Joseph, the love of her life. Married in 1974, Mrs. Bocchine and her husband moved to Loris, SC in 1977 where they resided until 2017. Mrs. Bocchine worked at Loris Middle School for over twenty years teaching English, Geography, and Spanish. She retired from teaching in 2006 but continued to teach part-time for Horry County Schools Adult Education. Teaching was Mrs. Bocchine's lifelong passion, and she loved helping people with all her heart. In addition to teaching, she enjoyed going to the gym and hiking. Traveling was an important pastime, and in recent years, she traveled all over Europe, Alaska, and to various national parks. During her spare time, she enjoyed reading, writing, painting, and spending time with her family. She loved people and could spend hours talking to her closest friends. She attended Living Water Baptist Church, and she loved Jesus more than anything in the world.
Mrs. Bocchine is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Joseph Bocchine; daughters Lauralee Thompson (Carl), of Elgin, SC, and Kristin Bocchine, of Dallas, TX; grandsons Noah and Joseph Thompson. She also leaves behind extended family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, half-sister Connie, and beloved friend JoAnn Daniels.
Family visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 8 with a funeral service following it at 2:00 P.M. at Shives Funeral Home, 7600 Trenholm Rd. Ext., Columbia, SC. There will be a brief graveside service following the funeral at Memorial Gardens of Columbia, 9301 Wilson Blvd., Columbia, SC.
