Donna Armalia Taylor Bone, 72, of Columbia, died December 22, 2016 at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital after a life filled with love. Born on March 31, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Taylor and Roscoe Taylor. A graduate of Eau Claire High School and Palmer Business College, Donna worked as an administrator for DHEC spending the majority of her career at Fairfield County Health Department before retiring with the Richland County Health Department in 1998. Donna was known as "Church Nannie" to the many children at her home church, Ascension Lutheran in Eau Claire, and at Mt. Horeb Lutheran in Chapin, which she visited frequently in her later years. Her eleven grandchildren were her greatest joy. Nannie had a unique relationship with each one of them. With Mama Dot and Nannie #1, she will continue to cheer them on from heaven, sharing their life experiences and making memories that cannot be stolen from her.
Operation Christmas Child and Relay for Life were two of the many community projects which had a special place in her heart. She was active in her church, serving countless terms as a council member and coordinating Ascension's participation in the Seeds of Hope Farmers Market. She was an accomplished seamstress who loved all sorts of crafts. In 1989, she won the Grand Prize at the State Fair with the elaborately detailed baptismal gown worn by all eleven of her grandchildren and three of her great-grandchildren.
Donna is survived by her three children, Shep Bone, Maria McCall (Barry), and Tony Bone (Kim); eleven grandchildren, Melissa Poindexter (Daniel), Taylor Bone, Brittany Kepler (Alex), Jacob McCall, Drew McCall, Avery Bone, Zachary McCall, Samantha McCall, Jordan McCall, Jenna McCall, and Tyler Bone; five great-grandchildren, Mason Poindexter, Colbie Kepler, Adalyn Poindexter, Decland Kepler, and Emalee Poindexter; as well as her best friend and soul sister Johann Roof (Gene).
