Donna Jean Koelling, 91, of West Columbia, died on Monday, January 20, 2025. Born on September 9, 1933, in Wisner, Nebraska, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Barbara Vrba Mathies. Mrs. Koelling was raised in Nebraska and married her high school sweetheart, Gordon W. Koelling, shortly after graduation. They relocated to Maryland where they both had successful careers with the US Federal Government. Following their retirement, they enjoyed more than 30 years living in Tuscon, AZ. After the death of her husband and a decline in her health, Mrs. Koelling moved to Hopkins, SC, in 2020 to be closer to her family.
Mrs. Koelling is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Barbara Mathies; husband, Gordon W. Koelling; son, Glenn G. Koelling; sister, Denise Russman; twin brother, Dallas Mathies, and her other brother, Dennis Mathies.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Shari Miles (Rodney) of Hopkins, SC as well as other extended family scattered throughout the US.
A celebration of her life will be held privately.
