Dorothy D. Greene, 83, of Columbia, died Thursday, September 8, 2022. Born March 16, 1939, in West Jefferson, NC, she was a daughter of the late Joseph N. Moretz and Alice Houck Moretz.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy P. Greene; stepson, Steven Green, and 12 siblings.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Greene worked for many years with the State Farmers Market. She was a devout Christian woman and devoted member of Alpine Baptist Church. Mrs. Greene enjoyed attending estate sales, antiquing, and growing tomatoes.

Survivors include her son, Dennis W. Lewis (Sandy) of Mount Dora, FL; stepchildren, Sara Katherine Mallard, Debbie Barber, Nancy Greene, and Gene Greene; grandsons, Benjamin Lewis and Nicholas Lewis; as well as great grandchildren, Emma Aycock and Rhett Lewis. Also surviving are many step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and extended family.

The funeral service for Mrs. Greene will be held at 11 o'clock, Monday, September 12th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC with a reception to follow at the funeral home. The committal will be held following the reception at 2 o'clock at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 W Dunbar Rd. W. West Columbia, SC 29170. Visitation will be Sunday, September 11th from 5 until 7 o'clock at the funeral home.
