Dorothy Lane Branham, 88, of Columbia, died Monday, May 25, 2015. Born December 24, 1926, in Bessemer, AL, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Jackson Lane and Edna Viola Blaylock Lane. Dorothy was known for her generous spirit in helping others, hard work and love for her family. She had a master's degree in common sense, coupled with a great sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughters, Elaine (John) Branham Barnhurst Sumner of Ogden, UT and Deborah Branham Cooper, Columbia, SC; her son, Harley Douglas Branham, Columbia; grandchildren, Mary, Brooke, Ben, Sarah, Emily and Tony; and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Leo Branham; her grandson, Bradley Barnhurst; and her five siblings.
The service for Mrs. Branham will be held 11 o'clock, Friday, May 29th, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Columbia Ward, 4440 Ft. Jackson Blvd, Columbia, with Bishop Bronson Titus officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10 o'clock, in the Relief Society Room. Burial will follow at Centerville Cemetery at Ridgeway, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, is assisting the family. The family would like to give very special thanks for the love and great care given by the doctors, nurses, and staff of SC Oncology Associates, as well as the kindness and love shown by the nurses at Lexington Medical Center – Infusion Dept. Special thanks also to her family physician, Dr. Sharon Risinger, for the great care and friendship.
