Obituary

Douglas Michael Lake, 79, of Ridgeway, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Born in Clinton, SC, on March 23, 1946, he was a son of the late Curtis Leon Lake, Sr. and Juanita Adams Lake.

Michael, Mike, Daddy, Papa, Daddio were just a few names he was called by his loved ones. His love for the Lord knew no bounds. Whether he was attending church, meeting with the Wise Guys, singing in the choir, or preparing for one of his cantatas, Mike always kept his eye on the Lord. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and confidant. Mike was kind, caring, loving, supportive, encouraging, funny, and wise. His love for his family and friends was evident, and he always made sure others knew just how important they were to him. He loved his South Carolina Gamecocks and would be sure to let them know when he was displeased with how they were playing!

Mike spent 54 years with the love of his life, Teresa. They shared many wonderful times with their children, grandchildren, relatives, and friends. They also loved spending time with only one another, whether it was as simple as sitting on their back porch or as exciting as a sled dog ride in Alaska or a river cruise in Europe. Teresa is heartbroken but knows that Mike is rejoicing in Heaven and that she will see him again.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Pixley Lake; son, Christopher "Chris" Michael Lake (Ali); daughter, Laurel Lake Jeffcoat (Willie); grandchildren, Wrenn Lake, Michael Lake, Isabella Jeffcoat, and Alexis Lynn; as well as his siblings, Debbie Willis, Ginger Brandt (Ron) and Curtis L. Lake, Jr. (June).

The funeral service for Mike will be held at 2 o'clock, Monday, September 8th, at Aimwell Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Erwin Threatt officiating. Burial will follow the service in Old Sawney's Creek Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 1 o'clock.

Memorials may be made to Aimwell Presbyterian Church Missions Fund, PO Box 146, Ridgeway, SC 29130, or to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
