Douglas Ray Tidwell, 71, of Lexington, died peacefully at his home April 7, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Columbia on August 29, 1946, he was a son of the late Thomas Henry Tidwell and Flossie Hester Jackson. Ray was a 1975 Graduate of the University of South Carolina, holding a BS degree in Computer Science. Prior to his retirement he worked at CAM-BAR Business as a computer analyst for more than 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, but most of all loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ray lived in Mt. Pleasant, SC, for 38 years, before moving to Lexington in 2016. He was a loving father, grandfather and a wonderful husband to his wife of 43 years, Dianne Rowland Tidwell.
In addition to his wife, Dianne, he is survived by his two daughters, Angela Tidwell Murphy (Kenneth, Jr.) of Leesville, SC, and Jennifer Tidwell Schirmer (Kevin), of St. Mary's, GA; six grandchildren, Maddison, Laurel, Gabriel, Ryley, Trace, and Luke; two brothers, Thomas Tidwell (Pam), of Pendleton, SC, Kenny Tidwell (Tammye), of Manning, SC; and one sister, Gale Sauls (Tommy), of Alcolu, SC.
The service for Mr. Tidwell will be held 2 o'clock, Tuesday, April 10th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with the Rev. Jared Kyzer officiating.
