D. Ray Long, 85, born on November 2, 1937 passed away on February 28, 2023, at MUSC Providence Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina.

Born in Little Mountain, South Carolina, he was the son of John Thurrell and Thelma Era Enlow Long. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn Douglas Long, children John (Nicole), Mark, Skip (Gayle), and Jim (Gena), their six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, twin sister Faye Carter (HD), sister-in-law Adair Long and his golden retriever, Mac. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Dorthy Wiles (Oz), and brother John Long.

He graduated from Jenkinsville High School in 1955 and retired from The Thomas and Howard Company after years of faithful service. He was a member of Living Springs Lutheran Church. He enjoyed Atlanta Braves Baseball, Gamecock sports, and was an avid golfer. He will be remembered as a man of faith with a calm and giving disposition and caring for all.

The memorial service will be held Saturday March 4, 2023, at 10:30 o'clock at Living Springs Lutheran Church, 4224 Hard Scrabble Rd, Columbia, South Carolina. A visitation will be held immediately after the service. There will be a private burial to follow.
