Obituary

Mr. Dudley Jennings Shelley, 79, of West Columbia, died on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Born on May 13, 1946, in Mullins, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas McRoy Shelley and Edna Majorie Dudley Shelley.

Dudley was a man of deep faith; he loved the Lord with all his heart and was known as a fervent prayer warrior, faithfully lifting up his family, friends, and anyone in need. Dudley was a proud member of the Aynor High School football team. A dedicated and hardworking man, Dudley proudly worked for the United States Post Office for 41 years and continued to work another 20 plus years for the Post Office Credit Union. His commitment and reliability allowed him the opportunity to serve as the President of the local America Postal Workers Association.

Outside of his usual work, Dudley enjoyed spending time at the beach, where he would end up working at the flea market. He had a great appreciation for classic cars, coins, and fishing. Dudley would often assist in organizing the Post Office Fishing Tournament. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the pride of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl S. Shelley and grand-daughter, Madison Baggott both of the home; son, Mark Shelley (Casey) of Macon, GA; daughter, Jennifer Baggott-Gil (Ramón) of West Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Christian Shelley, Hope Shelley, Micah Shelley, Kathleen Baggott, Leslie Mosley; great-grandchildren, Emerson Owen and Aria Baggott; step-mother, Sara Shelley; and his dear companion, Apple. He was preceded in death by his parents listed above; his first wife, Martha Shelley; son, Matthew Baggott; brothers, Irwin Shelley, Thomas Shelley, and James Shelley.

A private family graveside service will be held.
