Mr. Everett Duward "Dewey" Shull, Jr., 78, of Columbia, died Saturday, March 26, 2016. Born in Columbia on July 7, 1937, he was a son of the late Everett Duward Shull, Sr. and Eleanor Grace Kelly Shull. Duward was a graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1956, and attended the University of South Carolina. He was a sales associate with Havertys Furniture and the Morris Furniture Company. He was a member of the Palmetto Shag Club and the Capital City Shag Club. Duward was a lifelong member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church, and also a member of the Shandon Baptist Church, Disciple Sunday School Class where he enjoyed the fellowship and friendship of other members.
Duward's quick wit and outgoing personality were gifts that earned him many lifelong friends. He was a lifelong Gamecock and thoroughly enjoyed sports trivia.
Mr. Shull is survived by his son, Everett Glen Shull (Wanda) of Jones Creek, GA; daughter, Gwen Shull Shuler (Ricky) of Lexington; four grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor Shull George (Erby) of Columbia; brother, Dwight Shull (Laura) of West Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mr. Shull will be held 2 o'clock, Thursday, March 31st, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Rd. Exn., Columbia, with The Rev. Dennis Banks of Shandon Baptist Church officiating. Members of the Shandon Baptist Church Disciple Sunday School Class are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, 2603 Two Notch Rd, Columbia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 o'clock. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
