Mr. Robert Edward "Ed" Philbeck, III, 80, of Columbia, died July 7, 2016 with his family by his side. Born on October 31, 1935 in Bristol, VA. He was the son of the late Robert Edward Philbeck, Jr. and Catharine Kabler Philbeck.

Ed was the president of two industrial supply companies in Columbia, SC, an avid hunter, lousy fisherman, golfer and dog whisperer. He enjoyed spending summers in Colorado with his family.

Ed was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Little Philbeck; daughter, Dr. Mary Catharine Philbeck (Bradford Allen); sons, Robert Edward Philbeck, IV (Cindy), and Dr. George Kendrick Philbeck (Jamie); grandchildren, Caroline and Natalie Allen, Emma, Ben, Maree Stevenson and Charlotte Ann Philbeck. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Stallard.

A celebration of his life will be held 3o'clock, Sunday, July 10th at Shandon United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
