With humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the unexpected passing of Mr. Eddie Kerwin Stevens, 78, on Friday, March 13, 2026.

Mr. Eddie was the oldest child of Charlie Grover Stevens, Jr. and Ethel Eloise Stevens. He was born at Roger’s Hospital in Loris, SC, on June 27, 1947. He was a Vietnam Veteran Serving with the 1st Air Calvary Infantry Division and the recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge. He was a faithful member of the Fairlawn United Methodist Church for many years. Mr. Eddie was the owner and operator of E. K. Stevens Construction for over 42 years.

Mr. Eddie will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jewell Holmes Stevens and their one son, Eddie Kerwin Stevens, II, both of Blythewood, SC; sisters, Jeanie Peebles (Charles) and Judy Smith (Joe); a special great-nephew, Brayden Stevens, brought him years of great love and joy; and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom were his favorites.

Mr. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Grover Stevens, Jr. and Ethel Eloise Stevens; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Theresa Stevens.

The family will receive friends from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Shives Funeral Home, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. Columbia, SC. At Mr. Eddie’s request a private family graveside will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested for memorials to be made to the Fairlawn United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 9203 Wilson Blvd Columbia, SC 29203.

Jewell and Eddie will be eternally grateful to their Lord and Savior for the many years he blessed them with Mr. Eddie, a loving husband of 57 years and a wonderful father.
