Edgar Salter Kneece, 76, died on Monday, November 5, 2018, at MUSC in Charleston. He was born on September 14, 1942, in Columbia, SC, to Jack and Marjorie (Jenkinson) Kneece. He was a 1960 graduate of Eau Claire High School. He majored in Journalism at the University of South Carolina graduating in 1964. He continued his education by earning a Juris Doctorate in 1971 from the USC Law School. He served as a fireman in the SC Air National Guard. He worked for the SC Highway Department, Social Security Administration, SC Governor's Office, and the SC Attorney General's Office before becoming a practicing attorney in 1981. He argued cases before the SC State Supreme Court and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. With mostly a domestic practice, he particularly enjoyed his work with the Richland County Probate Court. Starting in 1983, he represented thousands of patients in commitment hearings over a 35-year span. Ed loved living at Lake Murray for over 50 years. Tennis, kayaking, woodworking, motorcycles, history, and anything mechanical were his passions. He had a razor-sharp wit and an understanding of the English language few people bother to achieve. He was dedicated to his family who love him very much. We are proud of his career and the man that he was.
He is survived by his sister Patricia Kneece; his wife Judy Kneece; and children Bryan and Marjorie.
