Mrs. Edith "Edie" Mae Griffin Cosgrove, 83, of Columbia, died Friday, June 24, 2016. Born on August 12, 1932, in Chesterfield, SC, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Nezzie Short Griffin. A graduate of Cannon High School in Kannapolis, NC, Edie was a longtime member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Dentsville Chapter #273. Later in life, she lived for ten years in her motor home in Lecanto, FL, and she treasured the friendships and memories she made while there. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Edie is survived by her son, Miachel D. Cosgrove (Susan) of Norfolk, VA; daughter, Jennie L. Bartlett (Frankie) of Columbia; grandchildren, Michele Coaplen Keys (Steven) of Winnsboro, Amanda Coaplen Butler (Marc) of Elgin, Hunter Bartlett of Walterboro, Michael D. Cosgrove, Jr. of Richmond, VA, and Janice Fontaine of Jacksonville, FL; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo J. Cosgrove.

The funeral for Mrs. Cosgrove will be held 4 o'clock, Monday, June 27th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Rd. Ext., Columbia. Burial will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 3 o'clock. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct.
