Obituary

Harry Edloe "Eddie" Greenleaf, II, 56, of Columbia, died Sunday, September 30, 2018. Born in Georgetown, SC, on September 4, 1962, he was a son of Harry Edloe and Shirley Faye Jordan Greenleaf. Eddie graduated from South Florence High School in 1980 and from the University of South Carolina in 1984 with his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. He then earned his Master's in Public Administration from the University of South Carolina in 1986. He continued to be an avid Gamecock fan long after his graduation and supported the University by attending sporting events and serving on the Richland/Lexington County My Carolina Alumni Board. Eddie retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina after 28 years of service. Upon his retirement, he founded and operated Greenleaf Consulting, an insurance brokerage and consulting firm in Columbia.

Eddie was a founding member and former president of Palmetto AIDS Life Support Services (PALSS) and a strong advocate for LGBT rights in South Carolina. He had a deep appreciation for our country and was proud democrat. Eddie ran for US Congress in 2014 and was a delegate at the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, PA. Eddie also served on the boards of the Richland County Planning Commission and the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Organization. He was a member at St. Martin-In-The-Fields Episcopal Church, where he was involved with multiple church activities.

In addition to his parents of Florence, Eddie is survived by his spouse, Michael Brezicky, Jr.; sister, Alicia Parker (Mitch) of Florence; brother, Charles Gould Greenleaf (Lynda Stipe) of Athens, GA; sisters-in-law, Patricia Williams (Chris), Marie Miller (Michael), and Lenore Marie Wilson (David); brother-in-law, Michael Charles (Rosie); niece, Brooke Bonette (Zach); nephew, Spencer Parker; and great nephew, Jackson Bonette.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, Stephen Lee Dutton of Columbia, Tim Rice of Dallas, TX, Phillip Coston of San Francisco, CA, Dr. Eric Eason of Chicago, IL, Tomas Blanton of Charleston, Mitch Parker of Florence, Charles Gould Greenleaf of Athens, GA, R. Zachary Widener of Columbia, and Jim Paschal of Asheville, NC.

The service for Eddie will be held 11 o'clock, Friday, October 5th, at St. Martin's In-The-Fields Episcopal Church, 5220 Clemson Avenue, Columbia with The Reverend Mitchell Smith officiating. Burial will be held following the service in the church Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the services. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
