A memorial service for Ms.Edna Hanna Creque, 101, of Columbia, formerly of Myrtle Beach, will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 11 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, S.C. 29223. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service at 10:30. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Robert, at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. All are invited to attend, however, masks are required and social distancing is enforced to ensure the safety of all attending. Ms. Creque died Thursday, April 16, 2020. Born October 27, 1918 in Conway, she was a daughter of the late Rollie Gatlin Hanna and Ellen James Hanna. She attended High School in Bennettsville and later received her Bachelor of Law Degree and became a member of the Georgia Bar Association. She married LCDR Robert E. Creque US Navy (Ret.). After Robert's retirement they purchased the family business, the Youpon Terrace Motel in Myrtle Beach, from Edna parents. Robert or Bob as he was called taught Math at Myrtle Beach High School for several years until he became a civilian employee as a Civil Engineer at Myrtle Beach Air Force base. They would eventually retire again and moved to Murrells Inlet where the couple remained until Bob's death in 1982. Edna moved to the midlands in 2000 to be near her beloved daughter's. She became a member of Windsor United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Journey of Faith Sunday School Class.

She is survived by daughter, Vera Creque of Columbia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Adah Marie Creque; siblings, Rometa Hanna Spencer, Jessie Hanna Caywood, Rollie Gatlin Hanna, Jr., Doris Hanna Hunnicut, Opal Hanna and Verma Hanna.
