A celebration of life for Edna "Tootsie" Jacobs Tidwell will be held at 2 o'clock, Saturday, February 4th at Harmony Baptist Church, 998 Tookiedoo Lane, Elgin, with Dr. Daniel Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock in the church fellowship hall. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Tidwell died Wednesday, February 01, 2017. Born in Richland County on April 5, 1930 to the late Glenn Thomas and Leila Ray Jacobs, she was the widow of Willis James Tidwell. Mrs. Tidwell was a member of Harmony Baptist Church for more than 35 years where she was also a member of the choir and the Joy Sunday School Class. She retired after 55 years from cosmetology.
Surviving are her children, Joan Rivers (George), Darrell Tidwell (Beth), and Ree Smith (David); five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Charlie Jacobs, Donnie Jacobs, Thelma Turpin, Juanita Lasley, Octavia Peake and Sara Peake. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Tootsie was preceded in death by brothers, Frank Jacobs, Elton Jacobs, Gilbert Jacobs; and sisters, Dot Porth and Louse Hughes.
