Blythewood: Mr. Edward Thomas "ET" Dixon, 80, of Blythewood, died on Friday, September 14,
2012. Born in Lexington County, SC, on February 27, 1932, he was a son of the late George Paul Dixon and Mary Jane Branham Dixon.
After serving his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, Mr. Dixon, retired from Stanley Smith and Son as a construction supervisor.
Survivors include his daughter, Pat, and Jim Rutledge of Blythewood; granddaughters and their husbands, TyAnn and Joseph Walters of Lugoff, Tammy and Guy Mayer of Camden, Teri and Don Kelly of Elgin; great grandchildren, Kendall and Chandler Walters, Cameron, Colton, and Chesnee Kelly; Taylor, Tanner, Thomas Thornton, and their father, Todd Thornton; sister-in-law, Vera and The Rev. W.L. Gladden of Elgin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dixon is preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Brazell Dixon; son, Edward Thomas "Eddie" Dixon, Jr.; brothers, F.B. and Paul Dixon; sister, Gina Haldi.
A funeral service for Mr. Dixon will be held on Monday, September 17th, at 1 o'clock, Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia, with The Rev. W.L. Gladden and The Rev. Brett DeYoung officiating. Burial will follow at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12 o'clock until 1 and at other times at the home of Jim and Pat Rutledge.
