Edward Lloyd Truesdale, 65, of Blythewood, SC, formerly of Charlotte, NC, died Friday, May 27, 2016. Born September 26, 1950 in Camden, SC, he was the son of the late Herbert and Margaret Sullivan Truesdale. Lloyd attended Camden High School and graduated from Western Carolina University. He began his career in insurance with the St. Paul Insurance Company and later was employed with Seibels Bruce in Columbia. Lloyd was active in Rotary Club, the Columbia Tennis Center, and was an avid Gamecock supporter. He enjoyed tennis and golf and was awarded the Johnnie Walker Hole-in-One in 1985. Lloyd was active in implementing one of the toughest ethics laws in the nation in Operation Lost Trust, and he later became affiliated with Selective Insurance Company in Charlotte, NC. Charlotte became home to him for many years, and he spent his leisure time playing golf at Piper Glen Country Club. In 2007, Lloyd ended his insurance management career with AAA due to health reasons. He relocated to Blythewood in 2013 to be near family, and there he enjoyed the golf course at Cobblestone Park.
Lloyd is survived by his sisters, Diane T. McLaughlin of Columbia, and Geri T. Stanley of Irmo; nieces, Dina W. Burnett (Kelley) of Dallas, Chesnee M. Murdock (David) of Woodway, TX, and Raven M. Sexton (Jonathan) of Beaufort; great-nieces, Wemberly and Rebekah Murdock; and great-nephew, Ethan Burnett.
A memorial service for Mr. Truesdale will be held at 2 o'clock, Sunday, June 5th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Rd. Ext., Columbia.
