Edward Patrick Wirthlin, 82, of Swansea, SC, died Monday, March 29, 2021. Born April 16, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was a son of the late Edward Wirthlin and Mary Murray Wirthlin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Betty J. Martin Wirthlin in 2019, as well as his brother, Paul Joseph Wirthlin
Mr. Wirthlin was a US Army veteran who proudly served his country. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an electrician for many years. His greatest joy in life was fellowshipping with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. At family gatherings, he was always the person documenting the event with his photography. Mr. Wirthlin enjoyed being outdoors and a good day fishing.
Survivors include his children, Edward Wirthlin, Annette Wirthlin, Bridgette W. Key, and Patricia Helms; grandchildren, James, Amber, Taylor, Amanda, Jessica, Tabitha, Meagan, and Hunter; great grandchildren, Christian, Caleb, Cameron, Chase, Isabella, Sophia, Colin, and Tanner; sister, Mary Wirthlin Brunswick (Buz), as well numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
The graveside service for Mr. Wirthlin will be held 10 o'clock Thursday, April 1st at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the graveside beginning at 9 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC.
