Eileen Brooks Sharpe, 75, of Blythewood, died on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Born in Atlanta, GA , on August 4, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Henry Clifford and Helen McDowell Brooks. Eileen was one of 10 children, raised in a large family in Columbia, SC. In 1962, she met Larry, the love of her life and later married in 1965. They went on to fulfil their dream of having a family; what she considered one of her greatest accomplishments. Affectionately known as "Grana", Eileen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and recent great-grandmother. Throughout her life, she always put others first and never hesitated to check on others and send her best wishes. Grana's faith was strong, and she enjoyed her time at Trinity United Methodist Church in Blythewood. A member of the book club and Frances Creech Women's Circle, she met many friends throughout her life. Grana was the definition of the acronym JOY; Jesus, Others and Yourself, which will remain a legacy instilled in her family. An opportunity was never missed to be with those she loved, whether that be at her home, on a annual beach trip; or at their beloved Farm at Ridgeway.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Larry H. Sharpe; daughters, Christy Trogdon (Ken), Laura Jeffers (Jay); son, Larry H. Sharpe, II. (Dawn); grandchildren, Lakyn Johnson (Hampton), Jennings Sharpe (Melanie), Chandler Sharpe, Jayson Jeffers, McKenna Trodgon, and Matthew Jeffers; a great-grandson, Levi Sharpe; siblings, Connie Woodard (Percy), Norman Brooks (Connie), Mikki Perry (Hayes), Mary Farabee (Bill), Angela Egas (Diego); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother and three sisters.
A private funeral service for Mrs. Sharpe will be held on Saturday, February 6th, at Trinity United Methodist Church with immediate family; after which burial will be in Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Scott Smoak will officiate. For those who wish to attend virtually, you may do so by visiting her tribute page at ShivesFuneralHome.com, on or after 11 o'clock Saturday. Following the private services, the family will receive friends at their Farm at Ridgeway, 3248 US HWY 21, Ridgeway, from 3 until 5 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. Mask and social distancing are required to create a safe environment for all.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christian Assistance Bridge in Blythewood, PO Box 1026, Blythewood, SC 29016.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of BrightStar Care Columbia for their loving care to Grana in her recent weeks.
The day that Grana went to Heaven, Larry and their three children walked into the room and Grana remarked "Where Have You Been? I am ready to go to Heaven!". What a day that will be when we hear those loving words again.
