Elise "Sissy" Carson Bagnal, age 88, of Columbia, died peacefully on Saturday November 18, 2017. Sissy was born in Columbia on February 27, 1929 and grew up in Batesburg the daughter of the late William Roswell Carson and Elise Mathews Carson.

Sissy graduated from Converse College with a degree in Psychology. She was married to Thomas Nettles Bagnal in 1950 and they were married 61 years. Sissy truly loved her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and having the Bridge Club in her home. She was actively involved in her Garden Club and a member of Forest Lake Club.

Her family includes daughters, Elise Bagnal Flowers (Charlie), Diane Bagnal-Moody (Bob), son, Thomas N. Bagnal, Jr. (Elizabeth), all of Columbia; grandchildren, Carson Flowers Tate (Andrew), Charles Bays Flowers, Wallis G. LeMasurier (Nick), Marion Moore Gandy III (Lauren), Thomas N. Bagnal III (Kate), Lauren Bagnal Rhinesmith (Zac), David Mathews Bagnal (Stephanie), James Woodson Bagnal; great grandchildren, Emma Bays Flowers, Elise Carson Tate, Lilla Grace LeMasurier, Henry Carson LeMasurier, Hartley Laine Gandy, Polly Ann Bagnal, Elizabeth Ann "Ellie" Rhinesmith, Riley Ann Bagnal and her dear friend Dorothy English. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bagnal was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas N. Bagnal; and brothers, William Roswell Carson and Charles Adams Carson.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park at 4:00 o'clcok, on Tuesday November 21, 2017 with the Rev. Stephen Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
