Lexington – Mrs. Elise Hoile Carter, 88, of Lexington, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016. Born to the late Reg and Olivia Hoile, she was married to the late William Russell "Dooley" Carter for 49 years. She was loved by all and called "Sweet Nan" by her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Olivia Sipper ("Kayo") of Luverne, AL, Beth Davis of Lexington, and Cindy Irwin of Lexington; sons, Russ Carter (Kim) of Chesnee, and Reg Carter (Melba) of Lexington; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Kennedy and Jacqueline Kilgore.

A service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 30th, at Palmetto Church of Christ. Elise was a member of Palmetto Church of Christ and a former member of Shandon and Long Creek Churches of Christ. She retired from Aetna Life & Casualty in 1984. The family will greet friends following the service. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
