Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Marsha Williams, 84, of Columbia, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Monday, April 27, 2015, quietly at her home. Mrs. Williams was born in Columbia, on August 29, 1930, and was daughter to the late Norman Joseph Marsha and Adele Cecelia Barkoot Marsha. She was a lifelong member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, graduated and lived most of her life here in Columbia. For years Betty worked as a secretary at the Noland Co. where she met and married the love of her life, Samuel P. Williams, Sr. in 1950. Sam preceded her to heaven in 2005. Betty loved to travel and was an avid golfer and bridge player through the years.
She is survived by her sons, Samuel P. Williams, Jr. (Wanda), Christopher Norman Williams (Pam), and David Hollis Williams (Darlene); sisters, Doris Woest, Norma Davis, Adele Weathersbee; and her brother, Stephen Marsha; grandchildren include Lindsey Henderson (Tab), Jennifer Ann Williams, Samuel P. Williams, III (Rebekah), Katherine Holmes, Alexander Williams, Aimee Williams, Ashley Buckingham (Earl); great-grandchildren, Betty and Louis Henderson, Trevor, Raina and Skylar Williams, Parker Dye and Daisy Buckingham.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Williams will be celebrated 10:30 o'clock, Thursday, April 30th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3600 Devine St, Columbia, with The Rev. Fr. Matthew Gray officiating. The Rosary will be recited at 5 o'clock, Wednesday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Rd Ext, Columbia, with visitation to follow until 7 o'clock. Memorials may be made to the church's building fund, at 3512 Devine St, Columbia, SC 29205; or to the Alzheimer's Association, SC Chapter, 140 Stoneridge Dr, Ste 210, Columbia, SC 29210.
