Ella Kenyon Washburne, 84, of Columbia, died on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Born April 27, 1937, in Philadelphia, PA, she was a daughter of the late Brigadier General Howard Nathaniel Kenyon and Elizabeth deSaussure Kenyon.

A member of First Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Washburne attended Oklahoma University where she earned her bachelor's degree in liberal arts.

Survivors include her husband, Robert N. Washburne: son, Kenyon Gibson: daughters, Mina Hegaard, Peronneau "Peri" Van DeHey step-sons, Marshall Washburne, Robert Washburne, II, and Michael Washburne: brother, Howard N. Kenyon: sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Shaw and Lucille Kenyon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Col. N.C. Kenyon her sister, Margarette Weirich.

A memorial service will be held 3 o'clock, Friday, February 25, 2022, at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with The Rev. David H. Lauten officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the family home. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
