Ellen Conner Brinson, 91, of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. Born in Concord, North Carolina, on August 28, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Conner and Helen Setzler Conner. Ellen was the loving wife of 47 years to Herbert E. Brinson, Sr. She was a dedicated member of Asbury Methodist Church in Columbia, South Carolina.

Although born in Concord, Ellen grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she attended Central High School and graduated from Brevard Jr. College. Ellen later went on to enroll at the University of South Carolina and join the Delta Zeta Sorority. She pursued a career as a secretary and retired from Clemson Extension Service. Ellen took pride in being a grandmother and being with her family. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include her children, Margaret "Peggy" Brinson Hutto (Jim), Herbert "Gene" E. Brinson, Jr. (Terri), and Barry C. Brinson (Ricardo); grandchildren, Tim Brinson (Alisha), Amanda Brinson, and Brian Hutto; great-grandchildren, Elliot Ashby, Harper Ashby, and Hunter Brinson; and her sister, Virginia Conner Anselman.

The memorial service for Ellen will be held at 11 o'clock on Saturday, January 21st, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock. A private service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
