Ellen Branham Downs, 93, of West Columbia, died on Saturday, April 9, 2022. Born in Fairfield County, SC, on March 22, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Benny and Ola Mae Kelly Branham.

Ellen was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lexington Ward. She also enjoyed her white fluffy dog "Mattie".

Survivors include her daughters, Sherry Carroll (Dean) and Debbie Sosa; sister, Lillie Martin Cooper; grandchildren, Kimberly Shackleford (Michael), Jessica Johnson (David); great grandchildren, Avery Shackelford, Peyton & Madilynn Johnson.

In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded by her husband, Jouett; grandson, Matthew Carrol; daughter, Tena Manning; and her son, Brandon Boyd.

The family would like to acknowledge in appreciation Kim Thompson for her loving care and support to Ellen and her family.

The funeral service for Mrs. Downs will be held at 10:30 o'clock, on Tuesday April 19, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Fort Jackson Ward, 4440 Fort Jackson Blvd, Columbia, SC. Burial will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends 9:30 until 10:30 o'clock prior to the service in the relief society room at the church. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
