Eltis Lucille Brown Keels, 89, of Prosperity, SC, died Friday, July 2, 2021, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia. Born March 2, 1932, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late A. Frank Brown and Eltis Barton Brown.

Mrs. Keels was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Prosperity, where she was a member of the Women's Sunday School Class, the Women on Missions, the Wings group, and The Good News Club.

Eltis Lucille was a true believer of God, concerned about others and continually praying for the people she knew as well as those she did not know. As a preschool teacher at Bayview Baptist Church, Mrs. Keels was affectionately known as "Granny" to all the children. She was a loving mother who was at all times involved with and participating with her children and grandchildren, she was always kindhearted.

She took interest in her community and joined in willingly to help raise funds for many worthwhile projects throughout the area.

Survivors include her children, Stan Keels (Delores) of Elgin, Eltis Slice (Mike) of Prosperity, and Patsy Grace Bass of Blythewood; grandchildren S.J. Keels, Jessica Keels, Lee Keels, Terrill Bass, Adam Bass, and Jared Slice (Jennifer); five great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Brown (Wanda); brother-in-law, Leonard Goff; along with many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Keels, and sister, Linda Goff.

A graveside service for Mrs. Keels will be held 1 o'clock, Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Elmwood Cemetery with Pastor Scott Kiersted officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, from 11 to 12:30 o'clock. Serving as pallbearers will be Lloyd Goff, SJ Keels, Lee Keels, Terrill Bass, Adam Bass, Jared Slice. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Brown, Brian Brown, and Scott Brown.
